Apparently, Ambikapur has been tagged as the second cleanest city after Indore. The Ambikapur Municipal Corporation planned to collect plastic waste through the Garbage Café initiative and use it in road construction. The city already has a road made with plastic granules and asphalt which is great as far as recycling goes.

Any person depositing 1 kg of plastic waste receives a full meal, while those bringing in 500 grams get a free breakfast. The city authorities and the citizens are actively participating in this scheme, which has been linked with the cleanliness campaign.

The plastic collected by the municipal corporation will be used to construct more roads in the state. Besides offering food, there is also a definitive plan to provide shelter to over 100 homeless people in the city.
