Southwick’s Zoo welcomed a newborn giraffe named Dolly, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs around 70 kg in just two weeks. She is the largest of her species ever to be born in the history of the 300-acre, privately owned and operated, zoological park located in Mendon, Massachusetts, US.

Dolly is one of the latest attractions of her zoo, she made her first public appearance during Awareness Day festivities on August 7.

A giraffe is known to be the tallest mammal and the largest ruminant on the earth. These majestic animals have been listed as vulnerable species on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List since 2016, and that’s the reason this development is of importance.

On average, they can grow nearly their full height by four years of age but gain weight until the age of seven or eight. Dolly has got everyone’s attention because of her size despite being just two weeks old.
