The bygone era of fountain pens is still alive in the hearts and memories of those who’ve lived it. The nostalgia of the golden era of fountain pens inspired a carpenter, Krishnamurthy Achar, in Avinahalli village of Karnataka’s Shivamogga to create a 19.5 ft. long wooden replica of the pen.

Talking about his creation, Krishnamurthy told us that the wooden pen replica is made from the wood of acacia tree which was available at a local lumber mill. He also shared that it took him 13 days to complete this massive replica of the fountain pen which is currently kept on an elevated stand on his land near his house.
Krishnamurthy is passionate about pens and has been making wooden pens of various shapes and sizes for many years. He has also applied for Guinness World Records for this 250kg fountain pen model, to which he will hear in about four months time.

The trend of fountain pens is gradually fading away, though still there are people who are keeping the memories of this era alive.

The outcome of Krishnamurthy’s hard work might get his name engraved in the Guinness World Records. His family and other villagers are hopeful that his labors will bring good name to the village.
