Man builds amusing ‘Dog-Train’ for dogs he rescues

Eugene Bostick, an 80-year-old man from Fort Worth, Texas has built a working train for the dogs he has rescued over time. He has no name for the train, so we can call it the ‘Dog-Train’. Bostick retired 15-years ago, and he lives down on a dead-end street with his brother and owns a horse barn.

“People sometimes come by and dump dogs out here, leaving them to starve. So, we started feeding them, letting them in, taking them to the vet to get them spayed and neutered. We made a place for them to live,” says Bostick in a interview to The Dodo.

Bostick has rescued and adopted countless dogs. His compassion towards these animals isn’t just limited to delivering them food and shelter, but it extends to adding fun to their lives.

He wanted the rescued dogs to be happy, and for that he came up with this amusing idea of a ‘dog-train’, in which he could take all the dogs on small trips to nearby places, including a forest.

“One day I was out and I seen this guy with a tractor who attached these carts to pull rocks. I thought, ‘Dang, that would do for a dog train. I’m a pretty good welder, so I took these plastic barrels with holes cut in them, and put wheels under them and tied them together,” says Bostick about the inspiration behind his dog-train.

Ready for an outing, he attaches a tractor to the bogies and it works well for him and his nine dogs, who are always excited to hop into the train. “Whenever they hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited. They all come running and jump in on their own. They’re ready to go,” says Bostick.

The dog-train has become a center of attraction for locals or anyone who comes across it. But irrespective of that, Bostick find his motivation in the happiness of his dogs. The old man wishes to continue with these joy rides as long as the dogs are happy with it.

This is the coolest guy he rescues stray dogs and every morning he takes them for a train ride by our building, i finally got the courage up to ask if I could take his pic! Love this and had to share!
