An adorable member of Ocean Park, Hong Kong, the world’s oldest male giant panda “An An” has died. The panda was euthanized at the age of 35 after he showed “steady signs of deterioration” over the last couple of years. A member of the park since 1999, An An and his mate, Jia Jia, were gifted by the Chinese government to Hong Kong.

According to Ocean Park’s authorities, the food intake of the panda declined progressively. An An had stopped consuming solid food and was surviving only on water and electrolyte beverages. His caretakers observed a decline in his activity levels and his resting periods were getting concerningly longer.

Although a difficult one, the decision to euthanize An An was eventually taken to lessen the aged panda’s discomfort. Even though the adorable furry creature is gone, he will be remembered with love and fondness by all those who have met him. Here are some of the pictures of An An, the world’s oldest male giant panda.
