The quickest electric 1972 Datsun can go from 0-60mph in 1.8 seconds

How hard is for you to believe the fact that a 30 years old car model, running on batteries, can beat a sports car with combustion engine? World’s quickest car takes 1.8 seconds to go from 0-60, which is a record and the candidate is a 1972 Datsun 1200 fitted with electric motors and batteries. John Wayland, an American mechanic who built the car, has named it White Zombie. He fitted a custom-built dual-armature nine-inch series-wound electric motor inside the shell borrowed from a 1972 Datsun. The motors are supplied a total of 355 Volts or 22.7kWh of energy from a 192 lithium-polymer cell battery. It can go 90 miles on a single charge and 500 hp can drag this monster quarter a mile in 10 seconds. This makes it the quickest car on the earth. Even a Tesla takes 3.9 seconds to go from 0-60.

However, the battery it possesses it quite expensive and without sponsorship it would have been difficult for Wayland to afford a $100, 000-battery pack designed especially for Navy Helicopters. Have a look how the White Zombie beat a Maserati by five seconds. Just the coast of battery used creates hindrance; otherwise, the prototype is a great hope for green racing future.
