The Bird Photographer of the Year has announced its winners for the 2022 contest. Over 20,000 entries were submitted this year for the world’s largest bird photographer competition. The grand prize was won by a photograph of a rock ptarmigan in its winter plumage flying over the snow-covered mountains of Tysfjord, Norway.

Bringing spectacular sights from the avian world, the contest is divided into eight categories: Best Portrait, Birds in the Environment, Attention to Detail, Bird Behavior, Birds in Flight, Black and White, Urban Birds, and Creative Imagery.
