Eighteen EV charging stations installed along the Manali-Leh route in the Ladakh region including Khardung La, Chang La and Taglang La passes
An Electric Vehicle (EV) has turned out to be a boon in our war against air pollution. But along with its numerous benefits, there comes a problem too – the number of charging points installed are remarkably low that eventually makes its usage quite less in number. In order to tackle this problem, PowerBank, a brand under Shuchi Anant Virya, has proclaimed to install eighteen EV charging stations along the Manali-Leh route in the Ladakh region. The brand is a joint venture amid Bangalore-based Lithium Urban Technologies, and Hyderabad-based solar company Fourth Partner Energy.
Five points have already been set up along the world’s highest motorable passes including Khardung La, Chang La and Taglang La passes. More than ten stations have been set up at a height of 10,000-15,000 feet above sea level.
The installation process took only ten days and covered the locations including Manali, Leh, Kargil, Nubra, Turtuk, Pangong and Siachen Base Camp. Chargers at the charging point are a mix of Type-1 and Type-2 Alternating Current (AC) chargers.

Installation sites are quite convenient and user friendly. The destination covers some scenic routes such as Hemis Monastery, Grand Dragon hotel in Leh, Hotel Kargil at Kargil and Nubra Organic Retreat, guaranteeing a great time for the visitors.

The Shuchi Anant Virya team themselves covered the journey from Manali to Leh in EV, said Sanjay Krishnan, Founder, Lithium Urban Technologies. He added;
We set-out on this journey with the aim of protecting the most fragile ecosystems in India, starting with Himachal and Ladakh.
PowerBank aims to transfigure around 50 percent of the vehicular traffic in the region to EVs in the coming 36-48 months.
EVs are the best alternative to free our planet from vehicular pollution, this whole idea of installing charging points that too in the highest motorable passes is indeed a great initiative by the brand.
