World’s Highest EV Charging Station Established in Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley

Situated in the Trans-Himalayan region of India, Kaza is located at an elevation of 3,800 meters above sea level and is the biggest and most developed town in Spiti Valley. Now, Kaza has got another distinction to its name as the world’s highest EV charging station was recently established there.

Set up by goEgo Company, two electric scooters were successfully charged during the inauguration ceremony last week. The EV charging station was opened in order to promote a sustainable environment.

Bharat AC and Dual Socket Type 2 chargers have been installed in the state, which have Make-in-India certification and compliance with ARAI and OCA certification and will serve all the EV scooters and cars.

Mahendra Pratap Singh, Kaza Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), said;

This is the world’s highest electric vehicle charging station at 500 ft in Kaza. It is the first station here…Today two women have come from Manali to Kaza on the electric vehicle to promote a sustainable environment. The weather nowadays is changing abruptly due to an increase in air pollution and the emission of gases from vehicles is one of the main causes of this pollution.

He further added that the charging station would play a vital role in preserving the untainted environment of the region from vehicular pollution. Moreover, travelers using electric vehicles will be able to access charging facilities at Kaza. Reportedly, all the products have been made in India.

In the meantime, India is moving forward in the electric vehicle market as there has been a boom in the production of battery-operated small EVs such as e-scooter, electric three-wheelers, e-rickshaws, e-carts and e-bikes across the country.

The transport ministry is also planning to establish a railway, metro and long-run intercity buses on green hydrogen in a bid to promote green transportation.

goEgo has partnered with TVS Motor Company to promote EV infrastructure in the state. The company also said that its aim is to encourage EV owners to engage in long-distance travel without worrying about battery recharge.

Catering to this dream, the company is committed to set up more of such public charging stations across all the popular travel destinations in the nation.
